DOCUMENTATION ADDENDUMS Installation and Runtime Issues If you are installing on a Windows NT, XP or 2000 operating system you may have some installation and game-saving issues. These errors can be solved by trying one of the following solutions. 1) Make sure the user has administration rights for both the installation and the running of applications. Windows XP/NT based operation systems allow administers to restrict access to certain directories. If you are unsure how to change these rights please contact the administrator of the machine you wish to install the application. 2) Install the application to a directory that is not protected. Usually the "Windows" and "Program Files" directories are the only areas protected from installation. When the installer asks for an installation directory, try using the following: c:\TC2\ **************************************************************** 3. Our Interactive Voice Response system is generally available 24/7, providing automated support solutions immediately. Great News! We’ve improved our Automated Systems so that you can get product-specific Troubleshooting help more quickly. All you need to do is enter the product’s Part # when prompted to do so. This will take you directly to all of our known issues and solutions for this title. The product’s Part # is located in several places (on the CD label, package and/or plastic disc case) and is usually identified by a number such as 04-12345. When prompted by the Automated System, enter the last five digits of your product’s Part #. (For example, Part # 04-12345 would require that you enter the “12345” portion of the number for that product.) Note: Some products simply feature a five-digit Part # without an “04-” prefix. Live support is generally available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM (Pacific Time). Note: We may be closed on major holidays. Before making your call, we ask that you be at your computer, have the following information available, and be ready to take notes: • System Make and Model • Processor Type • Operating System, including version number if possible (such as Windows® 98; Windows® Me) • RAM (Memory) • Video and sound card data and drivers • Any screen or error messages you’ve encountered (and where) Product Return Procedures in the United States & Canada In the event our technicians at (425) 951-7108 determine that you need to forward materials directly to us, please include a brief letter explaining what is enclosed and why. Make sure you include the Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA#) supplied to you by the technician, and your telephone number in case we need to call you. You will receive the mailing address when the technician gives you the RMA#. Any materials not containing this RMA# will be returned to you unprocessed. Warranty Policy in the United States & Canada If our technicians determine that the product storage medium is found to be defective within ninety (90) days of original purchase, (unless otherwise provided by applicable law), Atari will replace the item free of charge, to the original purchaser, if the item is accompanied by the original dated receipt and packaging. **************************************************************** 3. TROUBLESHOOTING and FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS A) What is DirectX? DirectX is an application extension from Microsoft for improving the performance of Windows games. B) Reinstalling DirectX If you need to re-install DirectX for any reason, re-install Tonka Construction 2. You may also do this by running DXSETUP.EXE on the TONKA_CPP CDROM. It is located in the DirectX sub-directory on the TONKA_CPP CDROM. C) Why is Tonka Construction 2 not running in full screen mode? This is caused by DirectX not being present or unavailable when the game starts. Run the Tonka Construction 2 installation again which will automatically re-install DirectX. There is also a DirectX diagnostic tool on the CDROM, also located in the DirectX sub-directory. D) I'm having problems with graphics or sound. Many graphics or audio problems are caused by older graphics and sound drivers. If you're still experiencing graphics or audio problems, check for the latest drivers from your graphics or audio card manufacturer at their web site, or contact them directly. E) I cannot go into any of the activities from the navigation screen. What should I do? This can happen if the saved game file gets corrupted. The best thing to do is delete the saved game which is causing the problem. Start Tonka Construction 2, and once at the sign in screen, highlight the name hit the erase button. Enter in your name again and sign in! F) How do I share buildings I made in Tonka City with friends? You can save buildings out that you made by using the Export feature in the city. Once you've created a building, highlight the building lot by driving the dumptruck over to it. In the cell phone, choose 'Export', and give the building a name. The building is saved out in the 'Import Export' directory, under the directory where Tonka Construction 2 was installed. (TC2 is installed by default in: C:\Program Files\Atari\Tonka Construction 2 In this directory, the saved building will have the same name you gave it, with a filename extension of '.ieb'. You can give this building file to a friend in any way you want, by email or by floppy disk (or any other removable media.) To load a building from a friend, copy the building file into your 'Import Export' directory, and while driving around the city with the dumptruck, choose 'Import'. A list of buildings in the 'Import Export' directory will appear, and choose the one you want! G) It keeps beeping at me when I am trying to place a building. Buildings cannot be placed in certain areas of Tonka Land, try putting it in a different spot. H) Every time I try to place a building or sign, it blows up. There's probably not enough room to put any more items. Also, be careful not to let the building touch the flatbed truck when you are placing it. It will think you are putting the building back on the flatbed. I) I cleared all the debris out of the road in the Tonka Desert. Why is it still telling me I'm not finished clearing? You have to clear the area around the road as well to make room for new shops and buildings. Try clearing anything that's close to the road. *************************************************************************************** 5.
