Error Message 5000 The 5000 series error messages occur as a direct result of a memory conflict on the computer. Usually such error messages are object or file specific and can be easily isolated. When this error occurs, and CorelDRAW will allow, save your work and exit CorelDRAW and Windows . Power your system down and reboot. If the error message returns, follow the instructions outlined below to isolate the offending object and delete it. While working in CorelDRAW, temporary files are created and stored on the computer. Over time, these files accumulate, and reduce hard drive space. To remove these files, perform the following steps: 1. Exit Windows to a DOS prompt. 2. Type SET. This will reveal the directory where the temp files are being saved, i.e. TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP. 3. Change to the directory and delete any files that have a .TMP extension. If the error returns after these steps have been taken, proceed to the next section. Error Message 5001 This error message occurs when two pieces of data are in conflict. In some cases renaming the CDCONFIG.SYS may correct this. If not, Technical Support has found several occurrences of data conflicts which remedy the problem. If you have any text fit to a path within the file - it and/or the path may be the cause. If the objects are not complicated delete and recreate them, otherwise select the objects, duplicate them, and delete the original, or copy/paste them into a new file to be saved and imported back in. If the error message occurs only when you are trying to manipulate a specific object follow the first procedure to isolate and remove the offending object. Save the files as CorelDRAW 2, and reopening the file in CorelDRAW. If the error occurs while printing, an object may be corrupted. Use the first procedure to isolate and remove the offending object. For Small Files Follow the steps below to locate a corrupted object: When the error occurs, the print dialog will stop on a particular object. Note the object number, and add one. Each object is printed in the order in which it was created, and can be identified by toggling through the objects. If clicking OK returns you to the document, save, exit and return to CorelDRAW. Open the file. With no objects selected, press SHIFT, TAB to select the first object created. Press SHIFT, TAB again to select the objects in the order that they were created until you reach the error generating object. Once identified, delete and recreate it. Note: If the printer has printed part of the drawing, click the last object printed, and press SHIFT, TAB to select the next object. This is likely the offending object and can be deleted and recreated. For Large Files If the printer has printed part of the drawing, click the last object printed, and press SHIFT, TAB to select the next object. This is likely the offending object and can be deleted and recreated.. Often the error can be reproduced by clicking the offending object, and copying it to the clipboard. To isolating the object Marquee select half of the objects on the page. Click Edit, Copy. If no error occurs, marquee select another area, and click Edit, Copy. Once the error occurs you will need to select fewer objects from that area and repeat the process until you have located the offending object. Once identified, delete and recreate it. If you locate the corrupted object but cannot delete it, click Edit, Select All. Press SHIFT, and click the corrupt object. Save using the Selected Only option under a new file name. If the error occurs when loading a file, click Display, Edit Wire frame, and attempt to open the file. Follow the instructions listed above to isolate and remove the offending object. Note: DO NOT confuse this with the CONFIG.SYS file in the root directory of the hard drive.
