There are 14,000 clipart images and symbols in the CorelDRAW 3 package. Importing is the primary method of accessing the clipart in CorelDRAW products for use within a document. This document will outline the steps required to search for, and import a specific clipart image from the clipart manual. Importing Clipart For this document, we will search for, and import the clipart image OWL2. This is located on page Corel-10 of the clipart manual. 1. Insert the CD-ROM, and launch CorelDRAW 3. 2. Click File, Import. 3. In the List Files of Type list box, click CorelDRAW!, *.CDR.. In most cases, clipart is located in the following directory structure: CLIPART \ VENDOR \ CATEGORY \ SUB-CATEGORY* \ CLIPART NAME * Not all paths contain a sub-category 4. Click the CD-ROM drive, and double-click the clipart directory. To determine which vendor is associated with OWL2, turn to page Corel-10 in the clipart Manual. The footer on each clipart page displays the following information: Corel Clip-Art / VENDOR - page #. The vendor named is Corel, indicating that the vendor associated with OWL2 is Corel. 5. Double-click the Corel directory. To determine which category is associated with OWL2, refer to the icons located at the top of each clipart page. On page Corel-10, the icon at the top of the page is a silhouette of a flying bird. Cross reference this icon and determine the category name. 6. Double-click the Bird directory. 7. Double-click the OWL2 file. The image will be automatically imported into the CorelDRAW 3 document. Corel File Finder To access an individual clipart file, use the Corel File Finder located in the CATALOG directory on the CorelDRAW 3 CD-ROM. Double-click FINDER.EXE to launch the application. Type the name of the file listed in the clipart manual and the Corel File Finder will provide you with the exact location of the clipart image. Note: For easy access to the Corel File Finder, copy the catalog directory to your hard drive, and click the CorelDRAW 3 group in the Program Manager. From the File menu, click New, New Item. Click FINDER.EXE, and click OK. The Corel File Finder icon will be placed in the CorelDRAW 3 group. For more information about Corel File Finder, click Help from within the application. Accessing Symbols Symbols are located in the clipart Manual on pages Symbols-1 to Symbols-76, and are referenced in the same manner as the clipart, but are not opened or imported. Note: CorelDRAW symbols can be accessed directly from CorelDRAW provided all of the symbols have been previously installed. If all of the symbols are not available to you, perform a Custom Install clicking None for everything except Fonts and Symbols. For this option click Some. Click Add All, and finish the installation. The next time CorelDRAW is launched, all of the symbols will be accessible. To access a Symbol: 1. From the CorelDRAW 3 toolbox, click and hold the Artistic Text tool. 2. Click the Star icon from the flyout. 3. Click anywhere on the page, and a Symbols dialog box will appear. 4. Locate the appropriate category for the desired symbol. 5. From the clipart Manual, determine the Symbol Number, and type it on the Symbol # line. 6. Click OK. The symbol will appear in the CorelDRAW document. Libraries The images located on pages Photo-1 to Photo -10 are found in the LIBRARY directory of the CD-ROM. There is a corresponding category directory for each type of image. The following outlines the location of certain images on the CD-ROM: Photo-1 to Photo-3 : LIBRARY \ PHTPAINT \ ARCHIVE Photo -3 (bottom half of page) : LIBRARY \ PHTPAINT \ FAIRYTAL Photo-4 to Photo-6 : LIBRARY \ PHTPAINT \ FANTASY Photo-7 to Photo-10 : LIBRARY \ PHTPAINT \ TEXTURE To access Library images: 1. Insert the CorelDRAW 3 CD-ROM. 2. Locate the CD-ROM drive, and navigate the directory tree to locate the desired image. 3. In the List files of Type window; - Set the List Files of Type to Corel PHOTO-PAINT!,*.PCX,*.PCC when clicking an image from the Archive Library (Photo-1 to Photo-3). - * Set the List Files of Type to TIFF 5.0 Bitmap, *.TIF when clicking an image from the Fairytal, Fantasy or Texture Libraries (Photo-3 to Photo-10). 4. Click the desired file name, and click OK. Chart and Show Libraries The images located on pages Chart-1 to Show-14 are located in their respective directories and can only be accessed from within those applications.
