# 4007- CorelTRACE Frequently Asked Questions Q When I trace my images how do I know where they are stored? A Once your image is finished tracing, click File, Save Trace. This will save the image as an EPS file in the default directory. To select a default directory, click Settings, Modify, Batch Output. You can also click File, Save, Trace As to select a different directory. Q Can I trace more than one image at a time with CorelTRACE 4? A Yes, you can use the Batch File RollUp. Click File, Open, and press SHIFT while clicking the desired files to trace. When you select more than one filename, the Batch File RollUp will automatically appear. From this RollUp you have options to add to the list for the batch trace, and delete files you previously selected. Note: If you perform a Batch Trace to a drive that is full, the resulting EPS files will contain 0 bytes. You can also combine different file formats within the Batch File RollUp. TIFF, PCX, TGA, GIF, PHOTO CD and BMP files can all be entered at the same time. Q If I have 10 files in my Batch File RollUp can I select just five of those to trace outline, and 5 to trace woodcut? A No. Any files listed in the Batch File RollUp must be traced with the same type of trace. If you want 5 out of the 10 files traced with one selection you would have to perform two separate Batch Traces. Q When using Edit Image, CorelTRACE automatically opens Corel PHOTO-PAINT to edit my image. Could I use a different Bitmap editor? A Corel PHOTO-PAINT is the default bitmap editor. To change the default editor, perform the following steps: 1. From the Program Manager click File, Run. 2. Type REGEDIT /V on the Open command Line, and press ENTER. 3. Click Search, Find. 4. Type .BMP in the Find What field, and press ENTER. 5. Type the application name in the Value field. 6. Save the changes, and Exit. Q The Batch File RollUp is not displaying correctly? How can I correct this? A The Batch file RollUp will display incorrectly, if you originally worked in Standard VGA (640 x 480), and changed to SVGA (1024 x 768). To resolve this, close CorelTRACE, and rename the CORELTRC.CFG file to CORELTRC.OLD. This file is found in the CORELDRW\TRACE directory. Restart CorelTRACE to restore the RollUp. Q How can I use the Logitech SCANMAN 256 hand scanner, with CorelTRACE? A This scanner is supported, however, some issues may be experiences when using the software. Most often, this is an issue with the configuration of the hardware and software. For proper operation, the Corel Image Source settings must match the settings on the scanner at the time the SAPI.EXE file is loaded. SAPI.EXE is supplied by CorelTRACE. If the settings differ, the message "Error transferring image" may be generated. To resolve this error, perform the following steps: 1. Reboot the computer. 2. A the DOS prompt, type SAPI/U, and press ENTER. This will unload SAPI.EXE. 3. Type SAPI, and press ENTER to reload the driver. When using the Corel Image Source with the Hand Scanner the Prescan button is not available.
