# 4011- CorelDRAW 4 Installation Issues This document outlines common installation issues with CorelDRAW 4 , and their solutions. "Requires 60K of disk space on drive D: (the CD-ROM drive), 0 bytes are available". This message occurs on computers that are equipped with 1 floppy drive, 1 hard drive, 1 CD- ROM drive, or 1 removable drive. It may also occur on laptops with a PCMCIA port that acts as a drive. To resolve this issue: If you use a removable drive, ensure that there is a cartridge in the drive. If you do not use a removable drive, create a ramdrive with at least 64K. To do this adding the following line to the CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE= C:\DOS\RAMDRIVE.SYS 64 /e Ensure this line is typed before the CD-ROM, or PCMCIA line. This will ensure it is assigned the next available drive letter to the ramdrive. The proceeding drive letter will be assigned to the CD- ROM.. Save the CONFIG.SYS, and reboot the computer. When setup has completed, remove the ramdrive statement, unless SETUP2 was chosen. Setup error "Bind Time Error" This error may occur in a when: attempting to install CorelDRAW 4 in Windows 3.0 using third party disk caching and memory management programs If you are attempting to install CorelDRAW 4 in Windows 3.0, you must upgrade to Windows 3.1X. Windows 3.0 is not a supported operating system. If you are using third party disk caching and memory management programs, install HIMEM.SYS or SMARTDRIVE. These must be used will installing. This error can also occur if WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows overwrites the DDEML.DLL file. In addition to the above error, the message, "Error reading DDEML.DLL" may also be generated. To resolve this, rename DDEML.DLL, and copy DDEML.DLL from the CorelDRAW 4 CD- ROM #1 to WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. CorelDRAW 4 must be reinstalled after this step. "DSHELL Error" during Setup. This error may be generated due to outdated diskettes. Check the volume label of diskette #1 or CD-ROM #1. If the volume label on the CD is DRAW4A_CD1 or on the diskette is DRW4ADSK1, contact Customer Service to inquire about obtaining the update. Setup aborts when attempting to register CORELSHW.REG. Only the Release Notes, CorelDRAW, CorelCHART and CorelSHOW icons are created. This will occur if a Custom Setup is chosen and the CorelSHOW samples are not selected. To resolve this, remove and reinstall the program with the CorelSHOW samples selected. You may also manually create the remaining icons, and register the programs. To do this, double-click all files with the extension .REG in the \COREL40\CONFIG directory. When updating scanner drivers following an installation of CorelDRAW 4, Setup does not detect the already installed scanner driver. During installation, Setup adds a scanner reference to the AUTOEXEC.BAT if it detects a scanner for which CorelDRAW 4 provides a driver. This line ends with 2 trailing spaces. If these trailing spaces have been deleted, Setup will not recognize the statement during a scanner update. To resolve this, add the spaces to the line, save the AUTOEXEC.BAT and reboot the computer. COREL3.* circuit files are not installed by Setup. This will cause colors printed from Corel applications, to certain desktop color printers, to appear washed out. To resolve this, copy the COREL3.* files (COREL3.SMT, COREL3.RGB and COREL3.CMY) to the COREL40\CUSTOM directory. These files can be found on diskette #1, or on CD-ROM #1. To use the new circuit files, click File, Print, Color, Load. No vector patterns are available in CorelCHART. A network installation from CD-ROM will result in an incorrect statement in the CORELCHT.INI of individual workstations. For example, Vector_path= an non existent directory. To resolve this create the directory stated in the path, and copy vector files from the CD-ROM into it, or point the path to the appropriate directory on the CD-ROM.
