# 6002- "FILE=COMMON\LIST..." Error Message The following error message may be generated during the installation of CorelDRAW™ 6: "FILE=COMMON\LIST IC LINE=1013 . . . Contact Microsoft Support..." This error is most often caused by 16-bit (Real mode) CD-ROM device drivers being loaded in the AUTOEXEC.BAT or the CONFIG.SYS files, instead of utilizing the native 32-bit (Protected mode) CD-ROM device drivers supplied by Windows® 95. Note: The following files are essential to the operating system. If you are not sure how to edit the contents of these configuration files, please contact a Microsoft Representative for further assistance. Please back up all configuration files before making any changes by copying the AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.DAT, AND USER.DAT to a floppy disk or to another folder. Use extreme caution when editing the Windows Registry. To troubleshoot this error message, perform the following steps: 1. Click Start, Run. Type SYSEDIT and press ENTER. This launches the System Configuration Editor and displays the contents of various windows. Review the contents of the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files for statements that load CD-ROM device drivers. An example CD-ROM devices is: MSCDEX.EXE, CORELCDX.EXE, ASPI_SYS.EXE (or .SYS), CUNI_ASP.SYS (or .EXE), If any of these drivers are present, then 16-bit device drivers are being loaded for the CD-ROM. To install 32-bit device drivers, edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT and the CONFIG.SYS to REM out the lines containing the 16-bit CD-ROM device drivers, for example: REM C:\CORELDRV\CORELCDX.EXE. 2. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click the Add New Hardware icon. Windows 95 can often auto-detect the CD-ROM device and supply the 32-bit drivers. If the CD-ROM is not auto-detected, double-click Add New Hardware and manually load the appropriate CD-ROM device drivers from the manufacturer list. Refer to the CD-ROM documentation for specific information about your CD-ROM type and manufacturer. If the CD-ROM remains disabled after the completion of these troubleshooting steps, contact the manufacturer for an updated 32-bit CD-ROM device driver that is compatible with Windows 95. Precise instructions for removing 16-bit drivers and loading 32-bit drivers are available from the Windows 95 documentation, Microsoft technical support, and the CD-ROM manufacturer. Note: If these steps do not resolve this issue, refer to Fax on Demand document #6022, "CorelDRAW™ 6 -Alternative Installation Methods."
