# 6019- CorelDRAW™ 6 Tips and Tricks 1. To see object outlines when you are moving them in CorelDRAW™ 6 , right-click the Pick tool, and click Properties. Enable the Draw Objects When Moving check box, and set the Delay to 0.100. 2. To move the rulers closer, press SHIFT, and drag the rulers anywhere on the page. The rulers can be individually moved, moved together by clicking the intersecting box and dragging. 3. To wrap text around an object in CorelDRAW 6, click the object with the Pick tool, right-e click, and click Properties, General. Enable the Wrap Paragraph Text check box. 4. To insert a page in the document, click the + symbol by the page indicator at the bottom of the page. 5. The Status Bar can be easily customized (e.g. large or small color swatches, number of regions, show object details, etc.) by right-clicking on the Status Bar and choosing the desired options. 6. Right-click on a blank section of the working page to bring up a context menu that has choices for saving, importing, exporting, previewing, and inserting objects. 7. Press CTRL and drag the side handle of an object to increase its horizontal dimensions in 100% increments. Drag the top or bottom handle to resize vertically in 100% increments, or drag a corner handle to resize the entire object in 100% increments. 8. If you are unsure about a tool or what it is for, right-click, and click Help or What's this. 9. To return to the traditional Zoom Tools, right-click the Zoom tool, and click Properties. Enable the Use Traditional Zoom Flyout check box. 10. If you are unsure about a particular option listed in a dialog box, click the question mark, and click the option in question. This opens a flyout with more information pertaining to that topic. 11. Click Tools, Preset tool to add preset effects like drop shadows and unique fountain fills to a selected object. This tool will also record operations and create macros. Use the controls in the RollUp to change the selected preset or to create your own. 12. Further customize the interface by dragging the tool flyouts to the page so that they are floating, or docking them into the button bar along the top, bottom, or sides of the screen. 13. Customize your RollUp groups, without clicking Tools, Customize, by pressing ALT and dragging the RollUp group buttons around. For example, click the Effects Envelope, press ALT dragging the Blend RollUp onto the page. To return it to the RollUp group hold CTRL while dragging the Blend RollUp back inside the RollUp group. 14. To select single objects from a grouped object, hold CTRL and SHIFT, and click the individual objects within the group. The CorelDRAW screen is a great source of access to dialogs and functions if you know where to double-click or what key to press when clicking. Access by double-clicking is provided in the following areas: 15. To access the Page Layout dialog box, double-click the page shadow. 16. Double-click the balloon icon in the left hand corner to close the current document. 17. For quick and easy access to the Grid and Scale Setup dialog box, double-click the horizontal or vertical ruler. 18. Double-clicking on the Pick tool will select all of the objects on the current page. 19. Double-clicking on the Shape tool automatically launches the Node Edit RollUp. 20. Double-clicking the Rectangle tool automatically adds a page frame.
