Under certain conditions, the error REGSRV32 may be generated when attempting to install CorelDRAW 7 on a computer running Windows 95. In order to install CorelDRAW 7 successfully, perform the following steps in order: Before attempting to diagnose and correct errors within the Windows 95 environment, the following precautions are very strongly recommended: 1. Create a Startup disk to allow recovery of basic computer function in the event of complete system failure. The startup disk may be created during the Windows 95 installation process or after installation is complete by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel. In the Control Panel, double-click Add-Remove Programs, and click Startup Disk, Create. Follow the prompts to finish creating this disk. 2. Copy the SYSTEM.DAT, USER.DAT, CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI files, plus any necessary device drivers, i.e., CD-ROM drivers, to a folder on an additional diskette. Be sure to label the diskettes. Note: These files are essential to the operating system. If you are unsure about how to edit the contents of these files, contact Microsoft Technical Support for further assistance. Do not skip this step! 3. Manually Uninstalling CorelDRAW Uninstall CorelDRAW 7. The Corel Uninstaller will not function correctly due to the incomplete installation attempt, therefore, un-install CorelDRAW 7 manually. - Click Start, Programs, Windows Explorer. - Click the COREL\DRAW70 folder on the hard drive to which you installed CorelDRAW 7. - Press DELETE, and delete all subfolders and files. Note: Folder names may vary, if destination names were modified during installation. 4. Removing Registry Entries - Click Start, Run. - Type REGEDIT on the Open command line, and press enter. - Double-click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. - Double-click the SOFTWARE folder. - Double-click the COREL folder. - Double-click the CORELDRAW folder. - Click the 7.0 folder, and press DELETE. 5. Removing Taskbar Entries - Click Start, Settings, Taskbar. - Click Start Menu Programs, and click Remove. - Click the CorelDRAW 7 entry, and click Remove. 6. Reinstalling CorelDRAW 7 - Insert the CorelDRAW 7 CD-ROM #1. - Click Start, Run. - Type X:\SETUP.EXE (where X is the CD-ROM drive letter) on the Open command line, and press enter. - Proceed with setup and click Custom as the Installation Type. - Disable the check boxes next to the following components: From the DRAW module, Tutors should not be installed. From the PAINT module, Tutors should not be installed. From the Graphics Utilities section, CorelTEXTURE and CorelSCAN should not be installed From the Productivity Tools section, Corel Barcode Wizard should not be installed. Note: If you wish to deselect any other modules (over and above the ones mentioned above) in the package, please do so. Deselecting other modules will not effect this workaround. - Proceed with the rest of the installation, and reboot the computer. This issue has been addressed and corrected with Build 467 of CorelDRAW 7. Contact Customer Service for information about obtaining this revision.
