This document describes specific procedures for Windows NT 4.0 scanner installation, and should be used in conjunction with Fax on Demand document #3410-Scanner Issues for a general understanding of TWAIN-compliant scanning. Corel Image Source software is available for users of supported scanners as detailed in Fax on Demand #3410. Your scanner must communicate with the computer through a SCSI or host adapter which operates on 32-bit software. To install the Corel Image Source for TWAIN-compliant scanning, perform the following steps: 1. Insert the CorelDRAW 7 CD-ROM #1. 2. Click setup from the Autorun screen. 3. Click Custom as the installation type, and deselect all components. Note: Enable all filters and default fonts. 4. Enable the Please allow me to select a scanner driver check box. 5. Choose your scanner from the list. 6. If your scanner isn't listed, click Kodak Photo CD, and proceed with installation. Windows NT is not shipped with its own ASPI manager, however, this application layer is loaded during the Corel setup routine. CorelDRAW 7 will install the following files on setup: WINNT 40 (ROOT) CRLASP95.DLL TWAIN.DLL TWAIN32.DLL TWUNK_16.EXE TWUNK_32.EXE CRLLYRT.DLL WINNT40\SYSTEM32 SCANNERS.REG WINNT40\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS CRLSCSI.SYS WINNT40\TWAIN_32\COREL CRLTWN32.CNT CRLTWN32. DLL CRLTWN32.HLP Note: Appropriate driver sets will be installed to the WINNT40\TWAIN_32\COREL directory according to the scanner selected during setup. Reboot the computer with the scanner turned on. From Corel PHOTO-PAINT or Corel OCR-TRACE , click File, Acquire Image, Select Source. Confirm that the correct Corel Image Source has been installed for the scanner, and click it. Click File, Acquire Image, Acquire, and the Corel Image Source will appear. Use it to scan into the CorelDRAW 7 application. You may also test it using the CorelSCAN Wizard. Scanning With a 16-bit SCSI or Adapter If you are using a 16-bit scanner driver, the GUI interface may not be visible from the Corel application. This may be overcome by installing the Corel Image Source for the Kodak Photo CD scanner during the setup routine. The Kodak Photo CD will appear as an option under the Select Source menu, but is used only to provide the necessary software modules for scanning with 16-bit device drivers. It should not be selected as a scanner source. Use the install instructions supplied with the OEM scanner software to load that 16-bit driver into the operating system of the computer. Reboot the computer with the scanner turned on. Click File, Acquire Image, Select Source, and click the OEM scanner driver. Click File, Acquire Image, Acquire. The 16-bit scanner interface should be displayed, and used to scan the image into the Corel application.
