# 3455- Accessing Clipart & Symbols There are over 40,000 clipart images and symbols in CorelDRAW™ 8. Importing is the primary method of accessing the clipart in CorelDRAW products for use within a document. This tutorial will outline the steps required to search for and import a specific clipart image from the clipart manual. Importing Clipart Search for the Clipart image FBALL122 , found on page 363 of the Clipart manual 1. Insert the CorelDRAW 8 CD-ROM #2. 2. Click File, Import. 3. In the List Files of Type list box, click CorelDRAW .CDR. 4. From the Import dialog box, select the appropriate CD drive, and double click on the Clipart folder. 5. A list of clipart categories will appear in the import window. To determine which category is associated with FBALL122, turn to page 363 in the Clipart Manual. The top right hand corner of each page displays a category name or path. In this case, the category is ...\SPORTS. 6. Double click on the SPORTS folder, then FOOTBALL 7. From the list of files, double click FBALL122. 8. Click on the page where you wish to place the image, or hit the space bar to drop the image at the default location. Accessing Symbols Symbols are located in Section C of the Clipart Manual (immediately following page 400 of the Clipart section), and are referenced in the same manner as the clipart, but are not Opened or Imported into a document. Note: The CorelDRAW symbols can be accessed directly from CorelDRAW provided that all of the symbols have been previously installed. If all of the symbols are not available to you, install the symbols in the same manner you would install True Type fonts. The symbols are located on CD-ROM #1 in the FONTS\SYMBOLS folder. Refer to Fax on Demand # 3454 for information about installing additional True Type fonts. To access a Symbol: 1. Click View, Dockers, Symbols, or click on the Star icon on the ribbon bar. 2. The Symbols RollUp will appear. Locate the appropriate category for the desired symbol in the list box. 3. From the Clipart manual, locate the Symbol number and type it in the # list box. The chosen symbol will be highlighted. 4. Drag and drop the symbol onto the document. Templates Templates are found on CD-ROM #1 in the TEMPLATE folder. To access a Template, click File, New From Template, click CorelDRAW templates, and click next. Choose from a list of available templates. Photos and Bitmaps Photos and Bitmaps can be found on CD-ROM #3. Photos are in the PHOTOS folder and the Bitmaps are located under the IMAGES folder. To access them, click File, Import, and click Wavelet Compressed Bitmap (WI) for photos and TIFF Bitmaps (TIF) for all other bitmaps in the Files of Type list box. Refer to the Clipart manual to properly associate the desired image to its respective category. Floating Objects Floating Objects are found on CD-ROM #3 in the OBJECTS folder. To access them, they must be opened in Corel PHOTO PAINT™ or imported into CorelDRAW. 3D Models There are 2 types of 3D Models located on CD-ROM #3. The first one is in the 3DMODELS\D3D folder and can be opened in CorelDREAM 3D. In CorelDREAM 3D a scene must be rendered in order to save the file as a bitmap image. Refer to the online Help in CorelDREAM 3D, or the CorelDREAM 3D tutorial for instructions about rendering a scene. Once the file is saved as a bitmap image it can be imported into CorelDRAW. The other type of 3D model is located in the 3DMODELS\3DMF folder. These can be imported into CorelDREAM 3D, imported into CorelDRAW, or opened into Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
