#3463 - Optimizing CorelDRAW ™ 8 Performance To improve CorelDRAW™ 8 performance ensure the computer exceeds minimum system requirements: Pentium 90 (Pentium 133 or higher recommended) 16 MB of installed ram (32 MB or higher recommended) 1. Turn off Use Offscreen image. This is found under Tools, Options, Display. Uncheck Use Offscreen Image. This turns off CorelDRAW's ability to copy the image into memory. Note: with large, complex documents, this may have an opposite affect when refreshing the display. 2. Go to Tools, Options, Memory. Ensure a hard disk is selected for the swap disks. If more than one physical hard disk exist, select a swap disk location for both primary and secondary disk. Use the fastest and largest hard disk for the primary swap disk. 3. Under Windows NT® 4.0, adjust the virtual page size under Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Performance. Click on Change. Depending upon how much disk is free, increase both the Initial and Maximum Size and click Set, OK. Create a Page File size for any additional physical hard disks. Note: Removable drives will not be recognized as additional swap disks. 4. In Tools, Options, Memory, for memory usage, adjust the maximum percentage of RAM. Allow 16 MB of RAM to remain with the operating system. If there are 32 MBs of installed RAM increase the percentage to 50%. Increase to 75% if there are 64 MBs of RAM installed. Note: If the application's performance decreases after increasing the amount of memory reserved for images, reduce this amount so that more memory is available to run CorelDRAW. 5. Exit CorelDRAW 8 and restart the program.
