# 3471- Enabling Print Merge in CorelDRAW™ 8 Adding Print Merge to The Menu By default the "Print Merge" feature is not included on pull-down menus. To add Print Merge to the File menu, click on Tools, Options. Double-click Customize, and select Menus. In the Menus dialog under the "Commands" heading, double-click "File &Layout", and double-click "File". Scroll down the Commands list and select "Print &Merge". Click on the Add button and then click OK. Print Merge is now added to the File menu. How to Create Fields in a Document Use artistic text for creating the fields within the CorelDRAW document. For example: Name Age (Note: all fields within the CorelDRAW document are case sensitive.) How to Create a Document for a Print Merge The text document of data to be merged with the CorelDRAW document must be in plain text (*.txt) format. To create the text document, the number of fields should appear first, followed by two carriage returns. Next, the fields should appear with a backslash "\" before and after, with one carriage return between the fields. Next the data for the fields should appear, again with a backslash before and after each field of text, with a carriage return between each data set (see example) Example of Print Merge Document 2 \Name\ \Age\ \Tim\\30\ \Scott\\32\ \Brian\\24\ \John\\37\ If the print merge feature fails to function correctly, first verify that the data file is formatted correctly. Next, verify that all fields defined in the document are single text objects and do not contain any spaces. Ensure that all fields in the document use the same case as the fields defined in the data file. To merge a text file with a drawing 1. Ensure the text file created is closed. 2. Open the CorelDRAW file. Check that it has been properly prepared. 3. Click File, Print Merge. 4. Choose the text file.
