Filter information

Name: IESWF91.FLT

Date: Mar. 17, 2000

Size: 240 Kbytes

Flash Version: This export filter supports Macromedia Flash™ 4 capabilities.

Viewing Macromedia Flash files

Macromedia Flash (SWF) files produced by this export filter can be viewed using the Macromedia Flash Player plug-in. This plug-in is available for multiple platforms from the Macromedia web site:

http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

Macromedia Flash movies are typically published to the Web by including them in a Web page using OBJECT and EMBED HTML tags. For more information, refer to support documentation on the Macromedia Web site.

Editing Macromedia Flash Files

The CorelDRAW Exporter for Macromedia Flash supports only export capability. Flash (SWF) files exported from CorelDRAW 9 can be brought into the Macromedia Flash authoring environment to add animation, interactivity, MP3 audio compression and other advanced Web features. Not all object and fill types are supported by the Flash file format. Editing capability may be limited.

Capabilities

The CorelDRAW Exporter for Macromedia Flash converts all graphic objects to a single frame Flash Player movie. Multiple layers are merged on export and only single page exporting is supported.

Not all CorelDRAW 9 objects are supported natively. The following table lists how CorelDRAW 9 elements are treated when exported to Macromedia Flash:

Object/element Treatment
Grouping Not maintained.
Layers All layers merged on import.
Lines and Bezier curves Converted to lines and arcs.
Circles, Rectangles, Polygons Converted to lines and arcs.
Uniform fills (single color) All colors mapped to RGB.
2-color pattern fills, full color pattern fills Rasterized (JPG bitmap).
Linear and Radial fountain fills Supported natively by Flash, except fills with 8 or more colors or fills not using the default number of fountain fill steps. These are broken into multiple filled polygons.

Note: More individual filled polygons result in increased file size.

Conical and Square fountain fills Converted to multiple filled polygons.
Mesh fill Converted to bitmap.
Postscript fill Converted to arcs and lines.

NOTE: Postscript fills can create very complex SWF files and should be used sparingly on small objects or converted to bitmap prior to exporting

Bitmap images Converted to JPG., according to compression, smoothing and dpi parameters specific in SWF Export Options dialog
Text Converted to curves.
URL links Used for roll-over effect.

Hotspots are based on object shape or object bounding box as indicated when assigning the hotspot bounding box in CorelDRAW 9.

Bookmark links Not supported.
Interactive transparency Supported using JPG alpha channels.
Color and color management All colors rendered as RGB.

Non-RGB colors (for example, CYMK) are subject to color correction for RGB conversion based on any available active color profiles in Corel Color Manager.

To disable color correction on export, uncheck the Calibrate Colors for Display checkbox under Tools, Color Management. (this is not recommended)

Page setup and background settings

When creating CorelDRAW 9 files intended to be exported to SWF, page setup should be in points. Within Flash4 points and pixels equate to the same. CDRs designed in points will import at a 1:1 ratio.

You can also define a page background using solid colors or bitmap images. Page backgrounds will be exported to Macromedia Flash if the Print and Export Background checkbox is checked. (See Tools, Options, Document, Page, Background)

SWF Export Options dialog

Setting Description
Bitmap
JPG compression 0-100, 0 = no compression

This value defines the amount of JPG compression applied to all raster images within the SWF file. Lower values compress less and maintain higher image quality.

Smoothing 0-100, 0 = no smoothing

This value defines the amount of image smoothing. Image smoothing makes color transitions less pronounced.

Resolution dpi

This value defines the resolution for all raster images within the SWF file and overrides any previously-defined bitmap resolutions.

Bounding box size This setting allows you to define the Flash movie size based on either Page Size or Object(s) bounding box. Also note that this setting is impacted by whether Selected Only was chosen in the previous export dialog.

NOTE: When exporting a whole page, objects extending beyond the page boundary will be included in the resulting file and not be clipped to the page.

Use rollover effect for links When enabled, this setting applies a specific rollover effect to all objects with hyperlinks.

The following effects are available: Shadow, Brighten, Darken, Offset, Shrink and Offset, Combo, Transparent

Note: Since this option affects all objects with hyperlinks, it may be more effective for use only on simple objects. If used on complex objects, this setting may produce undesirable results.

Grouped objects with hyperlinks will act as one roll-over and may be necessary in order to apply Internet Links to objects such as Artistic Media

File Protection When enabled, it prevents the SWF file from being loaded into the Flash editor
