# 3552- Uninstalling Corel MEGA GALLERY from Windows® 3.1X This document will outline the steps required to correctly remove Corel MEGA GALLERY™ and Win32s from a computer running Windows® 3.1X. If any of the following applications are also installed on the same computer as Corel MEGA GALLERY, do not proceed with these instructions. Instead, contact Corel Technical Support. • Corel® CD Office Companion • Corel® Graphics Pack • Corel GALLERY™ 2 • Corel® WEB.GALLERY Important Note: Before proceeding, it is important to make backup copies of the WIN.INI and REG.DAT files. These files are located in the WINDOWS directory. Refer to the Windows manual for instructions. Do not skip this step! 1. Delete the Corel MEGA GALLERY group icon. To do this, click the icon, and click File, Delete. 2. Run REGEDIT.EXE to delete Corel file types. To do this, click File, Run, and Type REGEDIT on the Open command line. Delete the following entries by clicking the entry, and clicking Edit, Delete File Type: GALLERY ALBUM Note: Deleting these references will update the REG.DAT file, and modify the [Embedding] section of the WIN.INI. 3. Make the following modifications to the WIN.INI file. Delete these lines from the following sections: [EXTENSIONS] GAL=C:\GALLERY2\PROGRAMS\CORELGAL.EXE ^.GAL CFM=C:\GALLERY2\FMASTER\CORELFM.EXE ^.CFM TTF=C:\GALLERY2\FMASTER\CORELFM.EXE ^.TTF DZI=C:\GALLERY2\PROGRAMS\PRELUDE.EXE ^.DZI Delete this section: [CORELGALLERY2] DIR=C:\GALLERY2\CONFIG 4. Using File Manager delete the \GALLERY2 directory and all associated subdirectories. 5. If you wish to remove the Corel fonts, use the Fonts icon in the Windows Control Panel to delete the CorelDRAW True Type fonts. Refer to the Windows documentation or online Help in the Fonts menu for instructions on deleting the fonts from the WIN.INI font list and the hard drive. Note: Ensure the fonts you remove are Corel GALLERY 2 fonts and are not required by any other program. The manual, provides a complete listing of all the fonts included with the application. 6. Restart the computer. Uninstalling WIN32s and Free Cell Note: Deleting Win32s could disable other applications that use Win32s. Ensure that no other application on the system uses Win32s before it is deleted. To remove Win32s: Note: Before making any changes to the SYSTEM.INI, it is strongly recommended that a backup copy be created. 1. Remove the following line from the [386Enh] section in the SYSTEM.INI file: device=\\win32s\w32s.386 Where and are the paths to the WINDOWS and SYSTEM directories respectively. 2. Modify the following line from the [BOOT] section in the SYSTEM.INI file: drivers=mmsystem.dll winmm16.dll to... drivers=mmsystem.dll Note: There may be multiple *.DLL entries on this line, remove only the WINMM16.DLL. Deleting Files from the WINDOWS/SYSTEM Directory 1. Delete the following files from the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory or from the SYSTEM directory if a network installation has been completed: WINMM16.DLL W32SYS.DLL WIN32S16.DLL WIN32S.INI WINHLP32.EXE WINDOWS.HLP WINHLP32.HLP WINHLP32.CNT Note: It may not be possible to delete W32SYS.DLL while Windows is running. It is recommended that you remove Win32s while in MS-DOS, not from an MS-DOS Window. 2. Delete all the files in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WIN32S directory, and delete WIN32S directory. Removing Free Cell: 1. Using File Manager, delete the WIN32APP\FREECELL directory. 2. From Program Manager, double-click the Win32 Applications Program group. 3. Locate the Freecell icon, and click File, Delete. 4. Restart Windows.
