File Backup Options - #3406 There are two methods for creating backup files in CorelDRAW 7.0. Both options, Make Backup on Save and Auto-Backup may be accessed in the Tools / Options / Advanced tab from the ribbon bar menu. These options may be invoked individually or concurrently. Make Backup On Save A backup file (BACKUP_OF_XXX.CDR) is created if a document is saved more than once during a CorelDRAW work session. A file of the same name as the document is created and placed in the selected directory. All backup files are given the filename BACKUP_OF_XXX.CDR and remain on the hard drive until manually deleted. To enable the Backup on Save feature: 1.) Mouse-click Tools, Options. 2.) Mouse-click the Advanced tab. 3.) Activate the Make backup on Save check box. Auto-Backup This option backs up the file at scheduled intervals which are preset by the CorelDRAW user. The automatic timer is activated the instant document contents change, and a file with the filename AUTOBACKUP_OF_XXX.CDR is created after the selected time has expired. Auto-Backup files are removed from the hard drive when the user exits CorelDRAW or clicks File / New / Save, or Save As. This file remains on your hard drive if the application aborts illegally. To enable the Auto-Backup feature: 1.) Mouse-click Tools, Options. 2.) Mouse-click the Advanced tab. 3.) Enable the Auto-Backup check box. 4.) Enter an interval time in the number box (from 1 to 120 minutes). 5.) Choose to save backup in the same folder as the original CDR file or select a directory to always backup to. Note: It is possible to disable both file backup features, but it is not recommended. Avoid the irretrievable loss of valuable work by utilizing at least one of these backup features during each CorelDraw work session. THE INFORMATION IN THIS PUBLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS".
