When I double-click on the Clipart Catalog or another catalog, an error message appears, stating that the program that created it could not be found. Why? A. Launch "Install Cumulus Desktop LE". The catalogs can then be accessed. Q. When trying to run the tutorial, an error stating that "Apple Guide requires that AppleScript be present in the extension folder" comes up. What is wrong? A. There are a number of extensions that must be present for Draw to operate properly. The extensions required to run CorelDRAW are; Apple® Guide, AppleScript®, Kodak® CMS and the ColorSync™. Q. When applying a drop shadow to text that has been distorted or placed in an envelope, the shadow follows the shape of the text before it was distorted. Can this be solved? A. This is a known issue and is mentioned in the Read Me file. To solve this, convert the text to curves, before applying the drop shadow. Q. Why do some of my solid fills appear textured, or have a jagged sawtooth pattern through them? A. The use of the Twin Turbo Extensions can cause video problems. This Extension ships with the IMS video card, and CPUs that have the IMS video card installed. To remedy the problem, disable the Twin Turbo Extension. This is done by removing the Extension or pressing the Caps Lock key on your keyboard while working in CorelDRAW. An updated extension is available from IMS. Printing Q. This can be changed by setting it on the PostScript Tab in the Print dialog box. Q. When printing a lens, transparency or drop shadow, the object does not look as sharp or clean as it does on the screen. A. When using lenses, transparencies or drop shadows, the crispness of the output can be altered by changing the resolution that these items will be rendered at. This control is located in the Special Settings on the Miscellaneous tab of the Print dialog. Filters Q. When importing a PostScript file some of the extended characters are missing. A. When importing PostScript files using the PostScript Interpreted filter extended characters may not be retained as expected. Extended characters will be correct if the PostScript document originated on the Macintosh platform. If the document was created on the PC this will not be the case. To avoid this problem re-save the document on the Macintosh platform prior to import, or import the file with the Encapsulated PostScript filter. Q. Why can't I edit my EPS files when I import them into CorelDRAW 8? A. If you import your EPS file using the Encapsulated PostScript filter, a Bitmap representation of the information in the EPS file is placed on the page. You will note that the Status ar reports the object as a bitmap with an EPS file attached. If you use the PostScript Interpreted (PS) filter to import the image into CorelDRAW, the file will open in a vector format that can be edited.
