# 2903- Computer Locks Up When Rendering a CMX File When attempting to open a clipart image from Corel GALLERY 2.0 for Macintosh , or the Corel MEGA GALLERY Viewer, the computer may lock up or stop responding, when rendering a CMX file. In most cases, the computer must be completely powered down and restarted to recover from this lock up. Corel GALLERY 2.0 for Macintosh or the Corel MEGA GALLERY Viewer may stop responding if there is an extension conflict, or a damaged or corrupted font. This can also occur if there are empty font suitcases on the computer. Extension Conflicts To determine if the cause of the lockup is an extension conflict, copy one of the clipart images from the CD-ROM (CLIPART / AFRICA / AARDVARK.CMX) to the hard drive, and restart the computer with extensions off. To do this, press SHIFT while restarting. Launch the application again and try to export the image. If the computer does not stop responding during the rendering process, then the problem is an extension conflict. To resolve this, refer to Fax on Demand document #3700 for more information about Troubleshooting Extension Conflicts. Damaged or Corrrupted Fonts 1. Create an untitled Folder on the desktop. 2. Remove all fonts from the FONTS folder, except Chicago and Palitino. 3. Restart the Macintosh with extensions off . 4. Launch the application, and access the clipart image from the hard drive. 5. If the computer does not stop responding during the rendering process, drag 10 fonts to the SYSTEM folder, and try rendering the image again. 6. Repeat this process until the system stops responding during the rendering process. By using this process of elimination, you will be able to isolate the corrupted or damaged fonts. Once the damaged fonts have been found, remove and reinstall them.
