PrintHouse for the MAC - FAQs 1) Why do I get an error message "Unable to load Printhouse OLE"? Typically this message is the result of the system having insufficient memory to load the complete application. If you only have 16MB of RAM in the Macintosh, you will have to enable virtual memory. This can be done by going under the APPLE / CONTROL PANELS / MEMORY turn Virtual Memory on. Close this Control Panel and restart the Macintosh 2) Why does Printhouse seem to freeze up when I try to bring in clipart or print my project? Printhouse may freeze up if there is insufficient memory to load a clipart image or print. The preferred memory setting, after install is 12,629k without virtual memory turned on. It is 7500 with virtual turned on. Increase the preferred memory to 16,000k. This can be done by going under FILE / GET INFO and increasing the preferred memory. 3) Why am I unable to open certain clipart images? You may be unable to open certain clipart or photo images through the catalog, specifically the categories CLIPART\HOME\ELECTRONICS or PHOTO\PAINTINGS. The following error message is given "DIRECTORY NOT FOUND: Corel Print House....." followed by a message that indicates "An unknown error has occurred. Please save your work and quit the application". To resolve this , Go to FILE and select IMPORT. Import the clipart or photo image directly into the Printhouse document. 4) Why do some of the Colophon's not look like they do in the book? There are a couple of corrupt colophons that do not appear properly if brought into Printhouse. (CLIPART / COLOPHON) COLOPHN3). To use this colophone, simply delete the extra characters that appear on the screen when this file is opened. Some colophones will have text that does not look proper. This will happen if the proper fonts have not been installed, as Print House on the Macintosh does not use Panose font matching. 5) Why do I sometimes get the message "Unable to open file Create Wizard" If the Create Wizard file becomes corrupt, this message will be displayed when Printhouse is launched. Check the Corel Printhouse / Custom folder for the file Create Wizard. If it is missing or is not the correct size of 95 kb, then reinstall Printhouse. 6) Why are some of my bitmaps printing as a grey boxes? This may happen if the application is running low on memory. Increase the preferred memory size of the application and try printing again. (See step #2 for instructions on how to increase preferred memory). 7) Why am I unable to Open Sample Documents? If the error message "the document xxx.cph could not be opened, because the application program that created it could not be found. Could not find translation extension with appropriate translators." Printhouse is not installed on the system, and you are trying to open one of the sample files from the CD. You must first install Printhouse in order to acess the documents.
