Using CDR Files In Corel Ventura 4.2 - #4203 CorelDRAW *.CDR files cannot be directly imported into Corel VENTURA 4.2, however, in CorelDRAW you can export the *.CDR file to a format that Corel VENTURA supports. There are three basic formats you can use: 1. meta-file images such as *.CGM or *.WMF 2. bitmap images such as *.TIF or *.PCX 3. encapsulated PostScript files, *.EPS While other formats can be used, these are the most successful file types for importing. Note: If you are prompted to export text as text or curves, it is recommended that you choose curves. Importing *.WMF files When importing the Windows Metafile (*.WMF) format, you will be prompted for a filename. This is normal and occurs so that the import filter can create a placeable header for the file. Importing *.TIF files Corel VENTURA does not support CYMK bitmaps making it necessary to ensure that all bitmap images are 24 bit uncompressed RGB files. TIFF 5.0 is the most recent version supported. Importing *.EPS files It is best to include a low resolution header with this format, this allows you to see what the image will look like when placing it in the document. Without the header selected, you will only see an "X" in the Corel VENTURA frame as the actual PostScript file is not visible on screen. Note: When using CorelDRAW 4.0, ensure that you have revision B3 or higher when exporting to the EPS format. If unsuccessful. . . If exporting from CorelDRAW or importing into Corel VENTURA is not successful, try exporting the file to another format or check the settings of the exported file. A small adjustment made in the resolution or colors, i.e. trying 256 colors as opposed to 16 colors, may help. Copyright © 1996 Corel Corporation. Last Updated: 29 May, 1996
