The documentation for the Designed for Microsoft® Windows® Logo program describes the scope and purpose of the program, tells you how to obtain the logo for your product, and specifies exactly what the programming guidelines are with which your application has to comply. The documentation is divided into four parts:

Introduction. This section provides an overview of the rest of the documentation and describes what the logo program is all about. It is divided into the following sections:

Getting the Logo for Your Application. This section lists the steps you have to take to obtain the Designed for Microsoft Windows Logo. It also includes an overview of the programming requirements as well as areas where new guidelines are being introduced.

Logo Requirements, Recommendations, and Best Practices. This section contains the formal specification for each programming guideline for the Designed for Microsoft Windows Logo program. There are three types of guidelines:

Requirements. Your application must comply with all of these requirements before it can receive the Designed for Microsoft Windows Logo.

Recommendations. These guidelines are likely to become requirements in the future, so it is worth complying with them now.

Best Practices. These guidelines are designed to help make your application work consistently and well in a Microsoft Windows environment, particularly in large enterprises.

Quick-Reference Lists of Programming Guidelines. This section separates the programming guidelines into the following lists: new requirements, all requirements, recommendations and best practices, and recently deleted guidelines.
