Last updated on April 12, 1999

After November 1, 1998, all Test Submissions received by WHQL for devices NOT currently supported by built in Windows 2000 drivers must meet the following minimum requirements in order to receive any of the "Designed for Windows" Logos:

1. Driver must be built with the Windows 2000 Beta 2 (or higher) Microsoft Driver Development Kit (DDK).
2. Driver must install in a plug-and-play manner via a Windows 2000 .INF.
3. All add-on software that is installed by the .INF (for example, Control Panel applets, diagnostic tools, etc.) must either run on Windows 2000 or gracefully inform the user they are OS dependent.
4. After the upgrade to Windows 2000 Beta 2 (or higher), there must NOT be error codes in Device Manager for the Test device.
5. Windows 2000 drivers and Windows NT® Beta 2 Test Logs are required for all Test Submissions.
6a. IHVs: By Windows 2000 Beta 3 + 30 days, Windows 2000 device drivers must pass 1998 Windows Logo Compliance testing for Windows 2000. These drivers will receive the "compatible" designation on the Windows 2000 Beta HCL.
6b. OEMs: By Windows 2000 Beta 3 + 60 days, Windows 2000 "compatible" drivers must be included with systems. These systems will receive the "compatible" designation on the Windows 2000 Beta HCL.
7. By Windows 2000 RTM, make Windows 2000 support available to customers for the Test Device.

Systems are currently required to include Windows 2000 Beta 2 logs with the Test Submissions.
