Windows 98 Logo Conversions
Last updated on

You can now convert your Windows 98 Compatible Test Submissions to Windows 98 Logo status!

If your PC 97 logo'd Test Submission has received Windows 98 Compatible status, you can request that the Windows 98 status be converted to Logo by doing the following:

  • Determine if your Windows 98 Test Submission is eligible for conversion. Enter your Master ID number on the WHQL Submission Status page and verify that the Level of your Windows 98 entry is "Compatible."

  • Use the WHQL PC 97 Hardware Compatibility Test CD version 7.6 to test Windows 98 on your system.

  • Submit passing Windows 98 (RTM) logs, a $250 processing fee, and a Conversion Request Form to WHQL (also available from \hct\docs\9convrt.rtf on the HCT version 7.6 CD-ROM). Based on these passing logs, WHQL can elect to change the HCL from "Compatible" to "Logo" status.

  • You may use or display a "Designed For Windows 98" logo after you sign and submit a new Logo License Agreement, however, you are not required to display the new "Designed for Windows" logos on your packaging once the conversion is complete. The new Logo License is available from the Microsoft Fax-Back service. Please see the Microsoft Windows Logo License and Testing Agreements section on the System Submission Procedures page for Fax-Back instructions.

  • System submissions with passing Windows 98 RTM logs will be able to use a "Designed For Windows 98" logo, and will be marked "logo" on the HCL.
