README for MICRTEST.286 program. 10/20/2006 - Gordy Koehler Setup: Place the MICRTEST.286 and latest micr data file, ADXMICRF.DAT, into the ADX_IDT1 subdirectory. This is where you should run the program. Execution: At command prompt, type micrtest. At the prompt of "Enter MICR Line:", key in the micr from the bottom of the check using the following rules: - where you see the symbol that looks like a vertical line with two dots, substitute a T - where you see the symbol that looks like two vertical lines with one dot at the top, subtitute an A - if the MICR data has a dash symbol, you would type that in with a dash (minus sign). - make sure to respect the blank spaces between digits, entering the correct number of blanks. That can make a difference. Once you have entered everything, you have something after the prompt like: T3212704T 0734671145A 2853 Press enter twice. Results: On the screen, you will see the various fields broken out. In the above entered example, we see: Transit: <3212704> Account: <0734671145> Sequence: <2853> Format : 80 This last part tells me it was format 80 in the file that matched the MICR. Use CTRL-C to quit out of the program.
