Enhanced Printer Drivers Screen FONTS This README file contains information that pertains to installing the needed Enhanced Printer Drivers Screen fonts. The Enhanced Printer Drivers Screen Fonts (MVfonts) package is necessary for the Enhanced Printer Drivers package so that text and the X window attributes look correct. The fonts need to be available to the X server which is displaying the application. For example, if the client package and font package have been installed on machine A, and the application is to be displayed on machine B then, the font package needs to be installed on machine B. This assumes that a network font server is not being used. The fonts can be installed in three different ways. The first is to add the fonts to the standard X11 font directory. The second is to add the package directory to the X server font path. The third is to add the install directory to a font server's configuration file (if an X11 font server is being used). The post-install script gives the user the choice to install the fonts any of these ways. On the HP-UX and AiX systems the setup script needs to be executed by the administrator. On Sun Solaris 2.4, if the NONABI_SCRIPTS environment variable was not set to "TRUE" at install time then the setup script needs to be run by the administrator after installation. All other systems will execute the setup script automatically as part of the post-install procedure. When executing the fonts setup script, enter the absolute path: //fonts/setup If the fonts are being installed on a non-unix X server please refer to the installation instructions for the specific X server. The file name length of the fonts may also need to be changed to match the operating system where the X server is installed. For example, for a windows 3.1 system, the filename must be shortened to 8 unique characters as the files are copied to the windows system. Normally the X server needs the "*.bdf" fonts placed in one of its local directories and then have "mkfontdir " executed. This IS NOT the case when a font server is being used. (NOTE: SunOS 4.1.x will need the "*.fb" font files and "bldfamily -d " is used instead of "mkfontdir".) After installing the Enhanced Printer Drivers Screen Fonts, normally the system is ready to go. If you start lexprt and you receive Font Warning Messages, then X cannot find the appropriate font to display. To correct this, you may either need to restart your X / Font Server or add the font path to X. First, try restarting your DISPLAY and see if this corrects the warning messages. If this does not correct the warnings, then check your font path by running the following command. #xset q If the correct font path is not currently set, you can set it with the following command. xset +fp Please refer to your X system administration documentation for any further information.
