DB2 Connect User's Guide

Who Should Read this Book

This book is intended for programmers and administrators who are responsible for setting up and maintaining DB2 Connect connections. These connections can exist between DB2 clients and any of the following Distributed Relational Database Architecture (DRDA) application server database management systems:

Notes:

  1. DB2 Universal Database (DB2 UDB) does not require DB2 Connect to allow host or AS/400 applications to access DB2 UDB data.

  2. DB2 Universal Database for OS/390 Version 5.1 or higher is required to use DRDA Level 3 functions, including TCP/IP database connections, and stored procedures with multi-row answer sets.

  3. DB2 Universal Database for OS/390 Version 6.1 or higher is required to use the DRDA Level 4 functions for which support is provided in DB2 Connect. These functions include support for big integer, large object, row ID, and user-defined distinct data types.
