Migrating from Previous Versions of DB2 Connect

If you are migrating a DB2 product installation on a workstation that is running on a supported Linux distribution, you should be aware that DB2 Version 7 can only run with glibc version 2.1.2 or higher, as mentioned in Software Requirements. If your Linux distribution has a previous version of this library, you will not be able to use your DB2 product.

To prepare your workstation for installation, you have to upgrade your existing Linux distribution to a more recent level that includes the required (or later) version of the glibc library; you also have the option to update only the glibc library. We recommend that you update your distribution's installation to a more recent version that includes the required level for the glibc library. Updating only the glibc library may cause errors that can impact your operating system

If there are several instances using previous versions of a DB2 product, you do not need to migrate all of these instances at this time. Instances that are not migrated will continue to use the previous version of the DB2 product.
