When you select trace-to-display reporting (see Configuring the Trace Utility),
a window that displays the trace information opens automatically when the
trace activity starts. To limit memory usage, this window has a predefined
maximum number of lines. When the maximum number of lines is reached, the
window is cleared and the information continues to be reported from the top
of the window. You can do the following in this window:
- Save the complete trace to a file
- Save selected trace records to a file
- Enable or disable the trace-to-display facility
- Enable or disable the trace-to-file facility
- Dynamically enable or disable the originator information (the class where
the trace originated)
- Clear the contents of the trace window
- Lock and unlock the scrolling in the trace window
- Select which trace record information is reported (component identifier,
level identifier, type identifier, date, time, thread identifier, terminal
identifier, and originator information)
- Dynamically enable or disable trace components, types, and levels, as
shown in the following figure:
