Removing elements from format hierarchies

A format hierarchy forms when a format definition contains a compound format element, which in turn contains other format elements, format decorators, or reference formats. You can remove any elements from the format hierarchy. When you remove a format element or a format decorator from the hierarchy, you also delete that format element or format decorator. If you remove a reference format from the hierarchy, you only delete the reference format and do not delete the original format definition to which the reference format refers.

To remove a format element, format decorator, or reference format from the format hierarchy, follow these steps:

  1. In the main editing area of the FMTE page in the Editor view, right click the format element, format decorator, or reference format you want to remove from the hierarchy.
  2. Select Delete.
  3. To proceed with removing the elements from format hierarchies, click OK in the dialog box that appears.
