How the SNA JCA LU62 Connector works

The following process describes what happens when an application uses the SNA JCA LU62 Connector to send and receive messages:

  1. The application requests a connection to the EIS through the JNDI name of the connection factory for the SNA JCA LU62 Connector. The factory creates the connection using the connection properties predefined in the J2C console page of WebSphere(R) Application Server.
  2. When it has an established connection, the application performs an interaction verb to send and receive messages. The interaction verb has the following properties: verb type (send or receive), timeout, input record, and output record. In WSIF terms, the interaction verb is an operation, the input record is the input message, and the output record is the output message.
  3. To perform the interaction, the SNA JCA LU62 Connector converts the input record or input message into string and then invokes the corresponding API of underlying EIS according to the interaction verb type. If the interaction verb returns the output string, the connector converts the string to the format of the output record for CCI or the output message for WSIF.
  4. The SNA JCA LU62 Connector returns the output record or message to the application.
  5. The application continues with the interaction verb or closes the connection.

There are two ways to access the SNA JCA LU62 Connector. For information on using the CCI to do the accessing, see Using the CCI to access the SNA JCA LU62 Connector. For information on using WSIF to do the accessing, see Creating a WSIF interface for the SNA JCA LU62 Connector.
