    1. Release Notes

Version changes to v1.3.0 from prior public release

Model 4 printer support was added.

4689 printer font utility is fixed.

4689 printer bitmap utility is fixed.

      Known limitations of v1.3.0

Only Windows98, 2K, and ME support POSDD and USB devices...WindowsNT does not!

Currently, only IBM POS USB devices are supported by POSDD.

At this time, only the jdk1.3 available at http://w3.hursley.ibm.com/java/index.html has been thoroughly tested as the Java Virtual Machine to use with POSDD.

On some SurePOS systems, HardTotals may not be present unless a CashDrawer is online.

    1. Installation Notes

IBM* Point of Sale Device Diagnostics (POSDD) is designed to run on top of the supporting structure provided by Windows (98, 2000), IBM* POSS Win 2.3.0 (or later) and JavaPOS 1.5 (or later). POSDD will be installed by running POSDD_Setup.exe. Please be certain that JavaPOS and POSS Win installed prior to installing IBM* Point of Sale Device Diagnostics.

Uninstalling can be carried out by going to the Control Panel and running 'Add/Remove Programs'.

The FAQ page available within the help system (or stand-alone HTML page) now documents that POSDD may not start properly on older Win98 installations. If POSDD was installed into the default directory the FAQ can be read at C:\POS\IBMPOSDD\res\help\default\html\faq.html. This can be fixed by the Win98 Script Support Upgrade from Microsoft.
