Master Glossary

This glossary defines terms commonly used in the TPF Database Facility (TPFDF) product information that are not common to data processing in general, or data processing terms common to other systems that are uniquely defined by the TPFDF product. Some of these terms may have other meanings in other contexts or in other data processing systems. Commonly defined data processing terms are not usually included here; however, some such terms that are widely used in the TPFDF product, and critical to its understanding, are included. See the IBM Dictionary of Computing, New York: McGraw-Hill, 1994 for a definition of other commonly defined terms. In addition, see the glossaries provided with the TPF and ALCS libraries for terms that are common to the TPF system, the ALCS environment, and the TPFDF product.
