Advanced search
You can get to the advanced search panel
by selecting Searches
from the masthead and then Start a new search in the navigation panel
or by pressing the Modify search button
at the top of the topic list resulting from a search.
While the advanced search panel is displayed
the simple search from the masthead is disabled.
Advanced Search gives you the following options:
-
Extend your result list to more than 20 search hits.
-
Select several indexes in which you want to search
(as opposed to only one index with Simple Search).
-
Constrain your search through the usage of Boolean operators:
in addition to the main search argument
you can add up to three qualifying arguments,
each preceded by the Boolean operator AND, OR, or AND_NOT.
When using Boolean operators, do not use (+) and (-) signs
with your main search argument.
-
Change the search mode from exact to fuzzy search.
Fuzzy searches use word stems to determine a match,
and are able to recognize differences in
plurality, tense, or comparatives.
Thus man would also find men,
eat would also find ate,
and good would also find best.
After selecting your search options,
press Go in the search panel
(not the one in the masthead) to start your search,
or press Clear to correct your search arguments.
