1.0 Overview

This document describes how to install IBM^® WebSphere^® Integration Developer Refresh Pack 6.0.2 by using the IBM Rational Product Updater. You should download this refresh pack directly from the IBM update server. However, you can also download a ZIP file that contains this refresh pack for local installations. The following sections describe how to install this refresh pack.

2.0 Installation prerequisites

This refresh pack should be applied to WebSphere Integration Developer 6.0.1, installed either on Linux or Windows.

If you changed the default update site preferences by clicking Preferences > Update Sites, you must restore the default settings before you can install the refresh pack.

Also, if you disabled any product features through the Update Manager by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration, or by modifying feature.xml files, you must re-enable them before you install this refresh pack.

3.0 Installing the refresh pack

Install the refresh pack with the same user account that installed IBM WebSphere Integration Developer.

Restrictions:

• WebSphere Integration Developer cannot be open when you install this refresh pack.
• On Windows^® operating systems, you must use an account with Administrator privileges. On Linux^® operating systems, you must use the root user account.

To install the refresh pack, complete the following steps:

1. Start the Rational Product Updater:
   • On Windows operating systems, click Start > Programs > IBM WebSphere > Integration Developer V6.0.1 > Rational Product Updater.
   • On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 (GNOME desktop environment), open the main menu and click Programming > Rational Product Updater.
   • On SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0 (K Desktop Environment), open the main menu and click IBM WebSphere > Integration Developer > Rational Product Updater.
   
   Note: On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, if you use a desktop environment other than the default, the product shortcuts might not appear in the default location.
   
   
2. Click Find Updates.
   
   If the Rational Product Updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it before you can continue. Click OK. The Rational Product Updater installs the update, restarts, and retrieves a list of available updates.
   
   
3. By default, all available updates are selected. Ensure that you select WebSphere Integration Developer Refresh Pack 6.0.2.
   
   Tip: To view the description for this update, click the update. The description is displayed in the Detailed information pane.
   
   
4. Click Install Updates
    
5. To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click OK.
   
   Depending on the speed of your computer processor, the amount of RAM, and the speed of your Internet connection, the update might take an extended period of time to download and install.
   
   After the installation is complete, the Rational Product Updater lists the installed updates on the Installed Products page.
   
   
6. Close the Rational Product Updater.

4.0 Downloading the refresh pack for local installations

You should install the refresh pack directly from the IBM update server; however, it is also available for download. You might want to download and install the refresh pack in the following situations:

• You have a slow or unstable Internet connection and want to use a download manager that can resume the download.
• You have difficulty accessing the live IBM update servers from behind a firewall.
• You prefer to download the refresh pack and install it later.

To download and install the refresh pack, complete the following steps:

1. Download the refresh pack fix from these URLs:
   ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/studiotools/wid/support/wid602_refresh_pack_pt1.zip
   ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/studiotools/wid/support/wid602_refresh_pack_pt2.zip
2. Extract the refresh pack to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.
3. For installation instructions, navigate to C:\temp\wid\ and open install_local_602.html.
