IBM Tape Library SMI-S Agent 1.1.1 Release Notes Introduction ------------ Release 1.1.1 is a maintenance release for the IBM Tape Library SMI-S Agent. All changes contained in this release are for the IBM 3584 Tape Library Device. See the Minimum Requirements section in this document for Tape Device firmware requirements. Install/Upgrade --------------- For complete installation and upgrade instructions, refer to the "SMI-S Agent for Tape on Linux Systems Installation guide" located in SMI-S/doc directory. Refer to the notes section below for additional installation and configuration instructions. You may also upgrade from Release 1.1.0 to Release 1.1.1. The installation utility will automatically detect the earlier installed version and upgrade to Release 1.1.1 after confirmation. Minimum Requirements -------------------- In addition to the prerequisites contained in the Installation Guide, the following Tape Library firmware levels are required for the fixes contained in the SMI-S agent release to work correctly. IBM 3584 Tape Library firmware level: 5550 or later IBM LTO Ultrium 3 tape drive firmware level: 59D2 or later Tape library firmware can be found online at: http://www.ibm.com/servers/storage/support/lto/3584/downloading.html Fixes in Release 1.1.1 ---------------------- defect Description ------ --------------------------------------------- 17375 Indication support insufficient Tape library alerts are now implemented as defined in the SNIA SMI-S 1.1.0 Storage Media Library (SML) profile. 17376 FC Target subprofile not fully implemented. The FC TargetPort subprofile is now implemented as defined in the SNIA SML 1.1.0 profile. 18432 The reference to TIC in the snmptrapd.conf needs to be a fully qualified pathname. The path for TIC program in the snmptrapd.conf is now updated with the full path depending on the install directory. Open Issues Release 1.1.1 ------------------------- In this release the SMI-S SML 1.1 profile core classes are implemented. Full SMI-S SML 1.1 profile compliance and certification is scheduled for a future release. Notes for Release 1.1.1 ----------------------- The 3584 tape library needs to be configured to deliver SNMP V2C traps to the IP address of the machine where the SMI-S Agent is installed.
