Defining a Centera Device Class

To define a Centera device class, first complete the following fields and then click Finish, or click Cancel to end this task.

Device Class Name

Enter the name of the device class to be defined. This parameter is required. The maximum length of the device class name is 30 characters.

HL Address

Enter the IP address (in dotted decimal format) of the Centera. You can specify multiple IP addresses by separating the addresses with commas and no intervening spaces. The address must be specified in the dotted decimal format, for example, 9.11.912.2.

Minimum Capacity

Enter the minimum size for Centera volumes assigned to a storage pool in this device class. This value represents the minimum amount of data stored on a Centera volume before the Tivoli Storage Manager server marks it full. Centera volumes will continue to accept data until the minimum amount of data
has been stored. This parameter is optional.

The following are possible values:

100M Specifies that the minimum capacity is 100M (100MB). This is the default value.
size The minimum value allowed is 1M (1MB). The maximum value allowed is 128G (128GB).

The value must be an integer followed by one of these units:

K Kilobyte.
M Megabyte
G Gigabyte

Mount Limit

Enter the maximum number of volumes that can be simultaneously open for input and output. This parameter is optional.

The following are possible values:

1 Specifies that only one volume at a time can be open for input and output. This is the default value.
number Specifies the maximum number of volumes that can be simultaneously open for input and output.

You can specify any number greater than 1, however, the sum of all mount limit values for all device classes assigned to the same Centera should not exceed the maximum number of sessions allowed by Centera.
