To label tape volumes, or in automated libraries to label and check in the volume to the library's inventory, first complete the following fields and then click Finish, or click Cancel to end this task.
Enter the library where the volume is to be located. This parameter is required.
Enter the volume name of the volume to be labeled.

blank | The volume is not checked in. The default is blank. |
Yes | Specifies that Tivoli Storage Manager should search the library for usable volumes to be labeled and labels each volume unless it is already labeled or the barcode cannot be read |
Select an option. This parameter can only be specified when the Search Library parameter has a value of Yes.
blank | No action is taken. The default is blank. |
Barcode | Tivoli Storage Manager attempts to read the barcode label from each cartridge. If the barcode scan fails, the volume will not be labeled and a message will be displayed. |
Prompt | Tivoli Storage Manager prompts for volume names as necessary. |
Select an option. This parameter is optional.
blank | Specifies that volumes are not checked in. The default is blank. |
Scratch | Specifies that the volumes will be checked in and added to the library's scratch pool. |
Private | Specifies that the volumes will be checked in and designated Private. They will only be available when requested by name. |
Select an option. This parameter is optional.
No | Specifies that Tivoli Storage Manager will only label unlabeled volumes. The default is No. |
Yes | Specifies that Tivoli Storage Manager will overwrite existing labels only if both the existing label and the prompted/barcode label are not already defined in any Tivoli Storage Manager storage pool or volume history list. |
Enter the first and last volumes in a range of volume names. Separate the names by a comma with no intervening spaces. Use this parameter to limit the search when the Search Library parameter has a value of Yes. This parameter is optional.
Enter the list of volumes to be processed for the command. The volume list is designed to filter only the volumes to be checked in or labeled, and it requires that the check in label is barcoded. This parameter is optional.
