Qualifying Systems for the"Designed for Windows" Logos

  1. Please request System Self-Test Kits via the HCT CD Order page at: http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/hctcd/.
  2. The System Self-Test package includes the Self-Test procedures and supporting documentation on the CD.
  3. Complete and sign the Microsoft Logo License Agreement and the Testing Agreement. If your company previously signed these agreements, you only need to include a newly completed "Exhibit A" of the Testing Agreement with your Test Submission.

The following WHQL legal agreements, previously available through the Microsoft FAX Service, can now be downloaded from the WHQL web site at http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/testkits/:

If you are unable to open these agreements, please send e-mail to whqlinfo@microsoft.com with AGREEMENT REQUEST in the Subject line. Be sure to include the name of the agreement(s), and your phone and FAX numbers.

Note: If you are in Asia or the Far East and need assistance, you can also contact the License Administrator at 886-2-2728-3203 (fax) or 886-2-2728-1717 (phone).

  4. Self-test your system.
  5. Assemble your System Self-Test submission: Signed Agreements, "Exhibit A", Presubmission Test Procedures (printed and electronic), test log files, end user manuals, and applicable testing or processing fees. For information on where to send your submission, see System Submission Procedures.

    When WHQL Receives Submission

    1. WHQL will acknowledge all Test Submissions within 3 days of receipt via e-mail. Submission ID numbers and missing items (if any) will be listed. Note: If you send a Test Submission to WHQL and DO NOT receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact whqlinfo@microsoft.com with STATUS REQUEST in your Subject line. Please include any information regarding the type of equipment, date shipped, the tracking ID from the shipping company, and how to contact you in the body of the message.
    2. Customers can check the WHQL Submission Status page for Submission related information.
    3. Allow 1 week for completion of processing of Self-Test logs, and 30 days for non-Self-Test Systems sent in for testing.
