An additional locale setting is required when you want to use the Java GUI tools, such as the Control Center, on a Japanese or Simplified Chinese Linux system. Japanese or Chinese characters cannot be displayed correctly without this setting. Please include the following setting in your user profile, or run it from the command line before every invocation of the Control Center.
For a Japanese system:
export LC_ALL=ja_JP
For a Simplified Chinese system:
export LC_ALL=zh_CN
