Control port

The control port (also known as the Service Ethernet or backplane) is used only for service purposes. No storage traffic occurs over the control port. The control port is provided as an alternative in the event that you cannot access the configuration through the data port. It is recommended that you use the data port for configuring the IBM IP Storage.

To modify the network configuration of the control port using the Administrative Console:

  1. Click Network --> Control port.
  2. Type the IP address of the control port in the Control port 1 IP address field.

Attention: The data port and control port must be in different subnets.

  3. Click Apply.
  4. Restart the appliance (see Restarting the appliance).
