Power Supply LED errors

Use the Power Supply LED information in the following section to troubleshoot power supply problems.

Minimum configuration requirements: The minimum configuration required for the DC Power LED to come on is:
  • Power Supply
  • Power Backplane
  • Processor/PCI Board (With pins 2 and 3 on J23 extension cable connected together to bypass the power switch.
  • Processor/PCI Board (Verify that Processor/PCI Board and System Board are properly connected together.

Table 13 describes Power Supply LED errors and actions.

AC Power LED DC Power LED Description Part/Action
Off Off No power to system or ac problem Suspected part:
  1. Power Supply
  2. Power Backplane
  3. Power ac Inlet Box

Suggested action: Check ac power to system

On Off Standby mode or dc problem Suspected part:
  1. Power Supply
  2. Power Backplane
  3. System Board
  4. Processor Board

Suggested action:

  1. Check processor board cable connector, J33. Move jumper on the J32 extension cable to pins 2 and 3 to bypass power control. If the DC Good LED comes on, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Watch the screen for any POST errors. Check the System Error Log for any listed problems. If the system powers up with no errors:
    1. Power Switch Assembly
    2. System Board
  2. Remove the adapters and disconnect the cables and power connectors to all internal and external devices. Power-on the system. If the DC Power LED comes on, replace the adapters and devices one at a time until you isolate the problem.
